Education Is the Answer

Education is the answer to so many of the world’s problems. That’s something my family believes deeply.

My dad, Yves Martin, was a college professor for 20 years, and he’s always told my brother and me that our #1 job growing up is to do well in school and learn as much as we can. But my dad’s dedication to education doesn’t stop with us—it’s also made a huge difference for Patrick Wesonga, the student we’re supporting through our Fields to Future campaign.

Patrick is studying to become a teacher at Kibabii University in Kenya. He wants to bring knowledge and hope to his village in Bungoma. My dad has mentored Patrick through his first semester, creating over 400 pages of study guides and at least 80 practice tests and sample essays for Patrick’s courses. Whenever he finishes a document, I send it off to Patrick. The results? Patrick has been scoring at the top of many of his classes! 🎉

We are determined not to let Patrick fail—his dream of becoming a teacher is just too important. But right now, Patrick needs our help to continue his studies. We still need $900 by January 5th to pay for his second semester of tuition.
