Exciting News from Bungoma and Holiday Wishes

Hi! I hope you're having a wonderful holiday season! I wanted to take a moment to share some exciting news from Bungoma, Kenya, where your support is truly making a difference.
First, the farmers we’ve been helping through Charlie Cares have had an incredible turnaround recently. After a long dry period with no rain, the weather has finally changed! Over the past few days, rain has started to fall, and it’s been just what the maize crops needed. Now, the fields look so healthy and green! If everything goes as planned, the farmers will start harvesting their maize just after Christmas. I’m so happy to see their hard work paying off—and it’s all possible because of your generosity.
On a personal note, tomorrow is my 12th birthday, and I’m so excited! This past year has been amazing, and I feel so lucky to have the chance to run Charlie Cares and work with incredible supporters like you. I can’t think of a better birthday gift than knowing that together, we’re helping families in Bungoma create a better future.
On December 12th, Bungoma celebrated Jamhuri Day, which is a really special holiday in Kenya. It’s kind of like the Fourth of July here in the U.S. because it celebrates Kenya’s independence (1963) and becoming a republic (1964). During the celebrations at a local school, a group of talented dancers performed a beautiful traditional dance in costumes made of sisal, called “owalo” in their language. I love learning about the rest of the world. Next year - I'm going to take on Swahili!
Thank you so much for believing in me and in the work we’re doing together. You’ve made this an unforgettable year for me and for so many families in Bungoma. Wishing you and your family a happy, healthy, and love-filled holiday season!
With gratitude and warm wishes,
Charlie
P.S. Thank you for making my birthday—and this holiday season—so special! 😊
