Feeding Families, Growing Hope

This season marked our fourth planting and harvest, and each time I am reminded how powerful a simple seed can be when planted with hope, community, and support. Thanks to generous donations, we planted corn again, and this harvest will help feed at least 140 families. That number represents more than meals. It represents security, dignity, and survival for families in our village, many of whom have limited or no access to consistent food.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who donated through Seeds of Hope. Your support helped us buy seeds for planting and fertilizer for topdressing. Planting and maintaining the corn required great effort. I coordinated the work by talking to neighbors, friends, and even some of the needy families themselves, asking for help. In return for their labor, I shared part of the harvest with them, creating a cycle of mutual benefit and support.
The work was physically demanding, but it was also beautiful to see our community come together to grow what we needed. Challenges remain, like transportation - I often walked long distances to check the fields or carry fertilizer by hand - and shelling the corn, which we still do manually. We also hope for a motorbike, a corn sheller, and even a safe home for my mother, whose roof still leaks when it rains.
Despite these hardships, the harvest was good. What we gathered will sustain many families. It showed us what is possible when people come together and when donors stand beside us.
