Hello everyone,
My name is Patrick Wesonga, and I’m excited to share my first day at Kibabii University with you. Thanks to the amazing support from Charlie and all the generous donors, I’m now officially a student here, and I couldn’t be more grateful.
I had been looking forward to this day for a long time. Stepping onto the campus of my dream university filled me with both excitement and a bit of nervousness. The morning air felt fresh and full of possibilities, reminding me that this is the start of a new chapter in my life.
As I walked around the campus, I was amazed by how large and beautiful it is. The buildings are tall and impressive, each one belonging to a different department or faculty. It was a lot to take in, and I wondered how I would fit in and find my place among so many new faces. But I was determined to embrace the challenge and make the most of this opportunity.
Orientation started with a warm welcome from the university staff and faculty. They made sure we all felt at home and knew that we’re now part of a big community. We were given a tour of the campus and shown important places like the library, lecture halls, administration offices, and the student center. The library, with its vast collection of books, really stood out to me—I can’t wait to start using it.
During orientation, we were also introduced to our lecturers and learned more about the different academic departments. The faculty members were friendly and encouraged us to reach out for help whenever we need it. They emphasized how important it is to get involved in extracurricular activities and to build connections with other students.
Meeting other students who are just as eager to learn as I am was another highlight of the day. It was reassuring to know that we all share similar hopes and dreams for the future, and I’ve already started making friends that I hope will last beyond my time here.
As I explored the campus, I felt a deep sense of gratitude. Kibabii University isn’t just a place to earn a degree—it’s a place where I can grow, learn, and prepare to give back to my community in Bungoma. I’m excited about what lies ahead and can’t wait to share more about my experiences with you.
Thank you all so much for your support. Because of you, I’m now on my way to earning a degree in Education Arts, focusing on Swahili and History. I look forward to keeping you updated as I continue this journey.
With sincere thanks,
Patrick Wesonga
