Setting a Record!

I know I’m kind of repeating myself but thanks to your support, we planted, fertilized, cultivated, and harvested three and a half fields in Bungoma during the long rainy season. And this time, we had our most successful harvest yet!
The yields were record-breaking, and this maize will help feed at least 128 families in the villages of Bungoma.
And the harvest was already helping families before all the maize had even been stored. Some of the workers who helped shell the maize were paid in grain, which meant food was going home to families while the harvest was still happening.
But there is another part of this harvest that makes it especially meaningful to me.
Patrick Wesonga, our first Fields 2 Future scholar, has been the hands and heart behind Seeds of Hope since its earliest days. He knows the fields, the families, and all the work it takes to turn a bag of seeds into food for a community.
This season, Patrick organized the harvest while undergoing chemotherapy for lymphoma.
Even on difficult days, Patrick continued making sure the maize was dried, shelled, and stored properly. His commitment to his community is something that inspires me so much.
"Thank you for your incredible support in making the long rainy season a success," Patrick shared with us. "Many needy families are deeply grateful for the food they have received through the Seeds of Hope-Charlie Cares Foundation initiative. Your generosity has brought hope and relief to many households."
And the work is already beginning again.
The short rainy season has started, and land preparation and planting for our seventh planting are underway. Donations go directly toward seeds and fertilizer for families who otherwise may not have the resources to plant.
Together, we are doing more than helping provide food for one season. We are helping families grow food, build greater food security, and look toward the future with hope.
Six harvests down - and now we are planting hope for number seven.
